Our Policies
These policies have been put in place to ensure the best possible program experience for
our animals, educators, and program guests. By booking a program with The Reptile Nook, you are agreeing to the following policies:
-
Our in-person program season typically runs March-November but can be subject to change based on weather conditions.
-
For the safety of the animals, The Reptile Nook reserves the right to postpone a program during severe weather or temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside.
-
Program dates are available on a first come, first served basis. We recommend booking programs as soon as you have a date in mind, especially during the busier parts of our season.
-
-
Programs are able to be held outside as long as it is between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit outside with no precipitation or strong winds.
-
If you are hoping to do the program outdoors, we must be notified in advance.
-
-
We will always do our best to allow clients to choose which animals we bring when they are booking an Animal Talk, 6-Animal Table Program, or 10-Animal Table Program, but this option may not be available during busier parts of our season (Spring & summer vacation weeks, and around Halloween).
-
Reptiles have bad days sometimes, The Reptile Nook does reserve the right to not bring a requested animal to a program if they are showing signs of stress or illness. In these instances, we will always do our best to inform the client and provide other options of animals that can travel to a given program.
-
-
For the well-being of our animals, The Reptile Nook reserves the right to revoke the privilege to pet any animal at any point during the program if program guests get too loud or the animal begins showing signs of stress.
-
Payment is due by the start of the program unless an alternative prior arrangement has been made and agreed upon with The Reptile Nook.
-
The Reptile Nook will send email confirmations approximately 1 week before your scheduled program.
-
The Reptile Nook will arrive 15-30 minutes before the scheduled program start time to set up, unless stated otherwise in the program confirmation email.
-
We ask all program locations to be set up with rows of chairs that have enough space for educators to walk through the aisles with the animals (double-spaced rows). Setting the room up this way allows for the best viewing experience for guests and stress-free handling experience for the animals and their keepers.
-
If chairs are not able to be provided, we will require guests to sit in double-spaced rows on the floor.
-
-
We will always provide hand sanitizer at programs, but we also ask that all program participants wash their hands with warm soapy water before eating or touching their faces.
-
As a result, no food is allowed at The Reptile Nook Programs.
-
The only exception to this is Table Programs with other events going on simultaneously to our program, and guests will still need to wash hands with warm soapy water before eating.
-
-
To reduce the spread of germs, we ask that parents and/or teachers do not allow children to pet the animals if they are prone to putting their hands in their mouths.
-
-
For places with limited parking, we require 1 parking space to be reserved for The Reptile Nook to provide safe and efficient loading and unloading of animals.
